The term ‘bespoke’ was invented in the 19th century by Savile Row Tailors of London. The meaning of bespoke is derived from the verb bespeak which signifies ‘to speak for something.’ Used by customers, it means ‘to give an order for it to be made.’ The term used even today represents a new cult of the modern era, where every man can now have access to high quality tailoring.
The ultimate expression of individuality. Bespoke tailoring offers a flawless fit crafted to give your body perfect symmetry and has virtually endless options for customisation.
It takes years of experience to develop the required expertise to guide the bespoke process in the right direction. From drafting, cutting, and finally tailoring the garment, it requires a consistent eye for detail and a deft hand to create the quintessential garment.
At Knightsman Bespoke Tailoring we take into consideration all your clothing requirements, to help present the best version of you. The craftsman may guide when needed, but you will ultimately choose each fold, fabric, button, and thread used in the final garment.
Bespoke suits are created from scratch and are typically finalised after a series of fittings. During the first stage of construction, the tailor takes your measurements, draws a set of unique patterns, and completes these with detailed notes about your posture and body shape.
The chosen fabric is then cut using the patterns, after which the fit is refined to the final product or your suit. This whole process usually takes 3-4 weeks including two to three fittings. Depending on the type of garment it may also take more time to complete.
A bespoke suit can also be customised and altered from time to time to ensure that the desired fit is achieved even if you gain or lose weight. Though expensive, the carefully crafted and handmade method results in a genuinely unique suit, which can last for your entire lifetime.
